Writing for the Web - Why it is Different from Print
Although your goal is to have your site rank well in the search engine reports, keep in mind that you are writing for people. When the content is relevant to the theme or purpose of your website, you will be rewarded. Original, well-thought out content with a purpose should be your goal. Remember, you are writing for people, not searchbots.
According to Jakob Nielsen, people don't read much on the web.
People rarely read Web pages word by word; instead, they scan the page, picking out individual words and sentences. In research on how people read websites we found that 79 percent of our test users always scanned any new page they came across; only 16 percent read word-by-word.
