About Egg Digital Media

This page could have been me spewing out a ton of alphabets behind my name and a lot of "yada, yada, yada." Instead, I thought I'd just cut to the chase, get to the point, get on with it.

What is Egg Digital Media?

Good question. Egg Digital Media was a name I adopted for this online venture after reading an interview with Jodie Foster where she discussed naming her independent film production company Egg Pictures. Jodie's lack of enthusiasm for producing mainstream Hollywood movies resonated; especially after having spent several years immersed in the L.A. radio entertainment scene.

Who is the person behind Egg Digital Media?

Me. Oh, sorry I didn't introduce myself. My name is Brenda. I cut my teeth in radio and TV in my tender 20s. In my 30s I managed to work my way up to major market radio - Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco as on air talent.

I was living in San Francisco during the dot com boom & bust. That's when I had an epiphany: this web thingy is right up my alley. So I dashed around like a mad woman and started a digital video production company that catered to non-profit organizations - Documental Media.

From there I studied Interactive Media Design at The Art Institute of Houston and worked in Internet Marketing/SEO for 4 years. I am currently employed as a design consultant for a national bathroom and outdoor kitchen remodeling business. This is sort of a petri dish for me in that it is helping me hone my sales & marketing expertise in a fluid, competitive industry.

What is this website all about?

Once I "retired" from broadcasting, I realized that I had no truly marketable skills other than being able to entertain people on the radio. Those skills aren't really transferable. So I had to carve out an entirely new career for myself online. It's like jumping on a skateboard and holding on to the bumper of an 18 wheeler that's going 90 miles an hour.

Since starting my first blog in 2006, I have (through trial, error and one notable pity party) discovered lots of resources, tips, tricks, books and other useful nuggets of knowledge that I am more than willing to share. So, this website is designed to help point you in the right direction and save you time.

It's for very small (1-5 people) business owners & entrepreneurs who need help understanding the fundamentls of online marketing, SEO, blogging, web design, and social media. I have tried to put everything at your fingertips and point you to other quality sites that offer more in the way of information or services.
